Single Sourcing Project

Context

This project was a hypothetical proof-of-concept of a single source solution to allow a tech company to update their content a single time to update all of their publications while improving searchability and consistency.

Problem

In this project, my team was given two unstructured FrameMaker book files supplied by the tech company to improve and standardize. My team was tasked with creating a single source solution to publishing PDF and HTML5 content.

Solution

To implement single sourcing in the client content, my team first created a content model based on a portion of the content.

After verifying the suitability of our information architecture, we created templates for concept, task, and reference topics.

We inserted the existing topics into these standardized templates and created new tables of contents.

Competencies

Working on this project developed and displayed literacy with Component Content management systems, structured content, topic-based authoring, single source publishing, CSS, web design, and digital communication through Slack.
