OBS Video Quick Start Guide

Context

This project involved creating a minimalist procedural quick start guide to help novice users complete realistic tasks in the livestreaming software OBS using screencasting.

Problem

This project aimed to meet a demand for a quick start guide to teach new users of OBS. This video needed to include visual markers and audio narration along with having a run time between 90-150 seconds.

Solution

To solve this need for a quick start guide, I created a screencast video demonstrating the process of setting up OBS to start a livestream using Camtasia.

I began by creating a detailed script and storyboard detailing what the video would include.

I recorded the audio for this script, then a screen recording of me performing the actions in time to the audio.

I then edited the audio and video to match them and to remove stutters and errors. This video was enhanced with highlights around buttons and the cursor. You can watch the complete video below.

This project developed and displayed my ability to use screencasting tools, record video, edit video, and produce help content for technology users.
